NT 2. student choice. week 8.

choice 2.

1.  Paul and Mormon prayed for their loved ones, and gave them counsel.  Paul mentioned Timothy's grandmother because she was a great example of faith, and she had taught him well.  Timothy can look up to her and try to be like her.  When we have faith in Christ, we have NO NEED to fear.  With Christ, I can do all things.  He is all powerful, creator, redeemer, and savior.  He loves me and doesn't want me to fear, he is there for me and will help me through anything.

2. Paul blessed the house of Onesiphorus because of the kindness they showed toward him.  When Paul was in need, Onesiphorus sought him out and helped him.  When I serve others, it's the same as if I was serving God Himself.  If I come to Christ with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, he will make my burden easy, and he will help me along the way.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 7.

Choice 1.

1. Philippians 2: 1-8 states that we should avoid causing contention among others.  It says that we should be of one heart, and one mind, and love others.
2. Philippians 2:12-15 says that we must have our own testimony so we can work out our salvation with God.
3. Philippians 3:7-16 says If we have a knowledge of Christ, we should follow him and we will be blessed.  We have a testimony that it is right, and we shouldn't worry about what other people think.
4. 2 Nephi 32:3 corresponds to this because it says "Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, wherefore the words of Christ will tell ye all things what ye should do."  The council given was through the Holy Ghost, and they should follow it because it is the same as if Christ was speaking to them.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 6.

Choice 1.

1. Salvation is nearer than we think.  In order to work out our salvation, we must continue being righteous. We must keep the commandments, and live a righteous, clean life.

2. Leads to Salvation:
Service
Sacrifice
Knowing, and doing the will of God
Stay away from that which is evil
Be kind, and hospitable
Humility, do not put yourself above others
Do good
Follow leaders
Love one another
Obey the commandments

3. Paul taught that we should strive to please others, not ourselves.
He says that a man who regards the day, regards it unto God, and a man who does not regard the day, does not regard it unto God.  Whether or not two people believe the same thing, have the same opinion, have the same point of view it doesn't matter as long as they are believing unto God.
God does not view one person, or one group of people above the others.  To Him, we are the same.  We are ALL his children.  He loves us the same.

4. He calls the members of the church Saints.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 5.

Choice 3.

1. the "body of sin must be destroyed" before baptism.
2. Christ's death and resurrection.  Christ died, laid down his life- like when we lay down in the font when we are baptized. and He rose again, like when we come up out of the font.
3. Someone cannot be baptized by sprinkling because it does not "cover" your entire being.
4. Newness of life is walking with God.  Once we are baptized, we are cleansed and are close to God.
5. The natural man.

Christ atoned for our sins so that we could become the servants of righteousness.  Not the servants of sin.  When we were servants of sin, we were free from righteousness.  But now being made free from sin, we become servants of God.  The true source of freedom is Jesus Christ, our Lord.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 4.

Choice 2.

1.  They were commanded to be forgiving.
2.  If we forgive others, Christ will forgive us.
3. We will be held accountable for the things we have done and for the fact that we didn't forgive others.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 3.

Choice 5.  How Christ helps us overcome sin.

Christ is our "rock."  Rock can mean foundation.  He is the foundation and cornerstone of our religion.  When we rely on Christ, as our rock, we can overcome any temptation, and he can help us through our trials and tribulations.
Verse 13 is reassuring because I know that any temptation I am faced with, there will be a way for me to escape the temptation.
The verses in Alma are comforting because I know that no matter what I go through, Christ knows how I feel, and he will help me along the way.

NT 2. Student Choice. week 2.

Choice 3.

Paul counseled members to:

Live the law of Chastity

Consecrate their bodies to Christ
Be honest with each other
Study and learn the gospel
Be an example and carry the word of God
Teach and help one another
Be charitable
Give thanks
Pray always
Be thankful
Have faith
Be righteous in all you do
Acknowledge Gods hand in all things.

1. Pray always.  When I'm not on my knees saying a personal prayer, I can strive to always have a prayer in my heart.
2.  Give thanks.  I need to work on being more grateful for the people in my life and the things they do for me.  And I also need to be more thankful to God for giving me all of the good people in things that I enjoy.
3.  Have faith.  I need to have faith that everything happens for a reason. I need to remember that no matter what, God is watching out for me, and he knows what he is doing, even if I am lost.
